Bangarpet police arrested a 37-year-old man late on Wednesday night for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl at a milk parlour.

The arrest followed tense scenes near Hospital Circle and outside Bangarpet police station on Wednesday evening, where thousands gathered demanding immediate action against the accused. 

The accused, Raghavendra, is a resident of Bhovinagar in Bangarpet, and was working at the milk parlour. Police said the minor, who lives in the same locality, had visited the shop on Tuesday to buy milk, and the accused allegedly took her inside and sexually assaulted her.

The girl returned home crying and narrated the incident to her mother, following which her parents approached Bangarpet police and lodged a complaint on Wednesday evening. Acting on the complaint, police arrested Raghavendra later that night.

Bangarpet police inspector Ravi Kumar said the girl had been admitted to the government hospital in Bangarpet and was recovering, with doctors monitoring her health. Police are investigating whether anyone else was involved.
